Well this year there is another Land Rover show on the event calendar however, this show is unlike almost all of the others this year.
You see, this show, the Bristol and West Land Rover show is different for two reasons. Firstly it’s intention was to create a fun family show to raise money for and awareness of BLESMA, the charity for amputee veterans. Secondly it’s affordable. Day visitor tickets are £8 in advance and unlike other shows, children under 15 get in free! A weekend camping pass is only £35 for tent, vehicle, up to three adults and any children. That’s a bargain in anyone’s book.
It is the brainchild of Mark Pattenden, himself an amputee, of 14 capitals fame, along with Mark Woodward of Mark Woodward Classic Events and Matt Smith of Xtreme Off Road so there is good DNA in the organisation.
There will also be a world record attempt on the Saturday afternoon with all entry donations going to BLESMA:
Bristol and West Land Rover Show is joining with the ex-military forces charity BLESMA to attempt a new Land Rover World record at its inaugural event on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June 2012 at the Royal Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet.
The organisers are aiming to get 1,000 Land Rovers and ex-military vehicles together in formation in order to beat the current record, which currently stands at around the 350 mark. The vehicles will be parked bumper-to-bumper to create a mosaic in the shape of a Defender 90.
Once the Defender 90 mosaic is in place an aerial view photograph will be taken and guest speakers will announce the total amount of vehicles entered.
The challenge will take place at 3pm on the Saturday, followed by an evening of entertainment to celebrate the success of the attempt. There will be entertainment, food, a licensed bar and a charity auction – with over 50 lots already promised.
As the challenge is in aid of charity, each participant is being asked for a suggested donation of £10 per vehicle to take part. In return for this every participant will receive a goody bag and certificate.
To get involved either download the booking form from www.bristolandwestlandrovershow.com or contact the BLESMA Charity Challenge co-ordinator Mark Pattenden on tel: 07864 879238 or email pattenden.mark@googlemail.com.
Team Chaos are honoured to be attending and will be raising awareness of both Macmillan and BLESMA.
We hope to see you there.
